A numerical solution of a singular boundary value problem arising in boundary layer theory
In this paper, a second-order nonlinear singular boundary value problem is presented, which is equivalent to the well-known Falkner-Skan equation. And the one-dimensional third-order boundary value problem on interval [Formula: see text] is equivalently transformed into a second-order boundary value problem on finite interval [Formula: see text]. The finite difference method is utilized to solv...
متن کاملNatural Boundary of Random Dirichlet Series
For the random Dirichlet series ∞ ∑ n=0 Xn(ω) e−sλn (s = σ + it ∈ C, 0 = λ0 < λn ↑ ∞), whose coefficients are uniformly nondegenerate independent random variables, we provide some explicit conditions for the line of convergence to be its natural boundary a.s. متن کاملTurbulent boundary layer equations
We study a boundary layer problem for the Navier-Stokes-alpha model obtaining a generalization of the Prandtl equations conjectured to represent the averaged flow in a turbulent boundary layer. We solve the equations for the semi-infinite plate, both theoretically and numerically. The latter solutions agree with some experimental data in the turbulent boundary layer.
متن کاملBoundary-Layer Theory, Strong-Coupling Series, and Large-Order Behavior
The introduction of a lattice converts a singular boundary-layer problem in the continuum into a regular perturbation problem. However, the continuum limit of the discrete problem is extremely nontrivial and is not completely understood. This paper examines two singular boundary-layer problems taken from mathematical physics, the instanton problem and the Blasius equation, and in each case exam...
متن کاملMulti-boundary effects in Dirichlet String Theory
String amplitudes with an arbitrary number of world-sheet boundaries on which the coordinates satisfy Dirichlet boundary conditions are analyzed in a path integral framework. Special attention is payed to the novel divergences associated with such conditions. Certain helicity amplitudes involving massless closed-string states are free of such divergences to all orders in perturbation theory and...
